Are You Walking and Talking with the Lord?

My child, when you get so busy with the minutiae of the day,

You neglect the important!

Allow Me to arrange your day to maximize My will.

You see I didn’t use a public relations firm while on earth.

I walked where the Father told Me to walk.

Once, it was only to the well in Samaria to ask a woman for a drink of water.

It is in obedience – daily walking and talking with Me

when things are accomplished that go beyond the temporal to the eternal.

There is nothing as important as spending time with the Lord, reading His love letter, praying and listening. Too often we think we have to “do something”.

In Revelations 2:1-7, the scripture talks of the church at Ephesus. They worked hard for the Lord, had the right lists of “do’s and don’ts” but verse 4 (NIV) says “Yet I hold this against you: you have forsaken your first love.”

Our first priority is to love God, to spend time with our Beloved! Christ spent many hours talking to His Father, away from the crowds, alone and in solitary places – growing, learning, becoming. We cannot do His work on earth until we take time daily to learn what He would have us do.

Although I wanted to spend more time praying this week, I wasted much time picking out flowers for my small garden, tearing out the old lantana and then planting new Mexican Heather. The sad part is now that it is done I don’t even like the dark purple color!!

We rush about doing the unimportant and neglect the essential: the delightful fellowship with the King of kings and Lord of lords.
