My child, will you trust me with today?
Tomorrow has enough heartaches of its own.
Will you enjoy the sunshine I give you?
Simply be My light wherever you are.
Like a lamp, let your light shine for me.
Never neglect the opportunity of sharing the love
you have experienced with me to others.
I love you and will always be with you.
It is a dark world in need of many lights.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV): “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may praise your Father in heaven.”
Light comes in many forms. Lighthouses are set along the shore to warn ships that there is danger ahead. God’s word tells people the right course to take in their lives in order to enjoy eternal life. We, who have experienced truth and light, share what we learn with others.
When we were children we used to sing a song in Sunday School, “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.” I think the Lord wants us to be like the lamp in the lighthouse sharing his light in this dark world.
As we drove past the lighthouses on the shores of Lake Superior one year, I thought of the little light, magnified by special lens, warning sailors of the dangers of the rocks along the shore. As Christians we want to let our light of knowing and serving the Lord shine out on this dark world, so many can come to a saving knowledge of the true Light of this World, Jesus Christ.
