Enjoy My Gifts

I enjoy giving you gifts, extravagant gifts –
cherish and delight in each one of them.
Take time today, to revel in the beautiful world I created.
Relish the bright sunshine of the morning,
which makes the water sparkle with diamond gems.
See me in the breeze ruffling the palm fronds.
Your memory can transport you to other places also –
to the landscapes of the North,
with glistening icicles transforming the lane into a fairyland.
Make time to see the beauty all around you.
Creation is here for you to enjoy.
Hearing your thanks and gratitude echoes
through the earth and into heaven.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Psalm 34:8

Although many of my readers had recommended “One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are” by Ann Voskamp, I only began reading the book this year. Noticing small gifts which God gives to us daily and writing each one down truly does transform one’s life. Challenged by God to record a thousand gifts – Ann recognized that in penning the words, she was giving thanks to our loving Heavenly Father as He showers us daily with beauty. In affirming these gifts in our lives, we begin to live more fully in the moment as we pause to look. When we speak or write down our thanks, we are filled with joy, often laughter. Enjoy God’s precious gifts to you.
